FIV or Feline Immunodeficiency virus is a potentially fatal disease for cats, which lowers the immune system and thus makes your cat more susceptible to getting sick. It is primarily transfered by saliva so outdoor cats are more prone to acquiring it through fights. It is recommended that all outdoor cats receive the vaccine, if you would like to vaccinate against FIV please phone to discuss the options.
Yearly C5 vaccine is highly recommended
Yearly F3 Vaccine is highly recommended
Heartworm is a potentially fatal disease of dogs, which is transmitted by mosquitoes and affects the heart of your dog. It is highly recommended that all dogs be treated with heartworm prevention, which comes in an array of medications including spot ons, chews, tablets and the one I highly recommend the injectable, Proheart SR12
12 weeks - Prevention should start here, I recommend the Proheart SR12 (no need to remember every month just give in one easy injection) though if you do wish to give monthly treatment just call to discuss
6 months - Proheart SR12 injection
Combine your dogs anuual vaccination with the Proheart SR12
A microchip is a permanent identification for your pet. It is the size of a grain of rice and is placed between the shoulder blades of your pet with a needle. It means your pet has the best opportunity of being returned to you in the unfortunate event of your pet being lost. It is a requirement in Queensland that all puppies and kittens (or dogs and cats acquired after 10 December 2010) be microchipped.
Unfortunately our pets don't live as long as us and sometimes we have to make the hard decsion to say
good-bye to them. They are a huge part of our life and our family so they deserve a respectable end to their life. I provide this service in the comfort and familiar surroundings of their own home to try and make this difficult time slightly more bearable.
Pet Heaven NQ offers burial and cremation services for pets, please visit their website for details.
Annual Health Check
This is provided in all vaccinations and includes a full physical examination and we can discuss any concerns you may have with your pet along with intestinal worming, flea and tick prevention, nutrition, weight management and anything else you would like to discuss. If you choose not to vaccinate your pet, an annual health check is still very important for your pet
Skin conditions are a common condition of animals and sometimes can be very frustrating and lifelong in some cases. There are many diseases that can affect the skin of your animal including fleas, allergies, demodex, secondary infections just to name a few and these are important to get treatment early to hopefully stop any ongoing issues
Worming and Fleas
It is important to worm your adult pets every 3 months for intestinal worms not only for their health but also for our health and the health of your family. Intestinal worms can be passed onto humans from our pets and can cause issues for our health. Puppies and kittens need to be wormed more frequently - every 2 weekes till they're 12 weeks of age and then every month till they are 6 months of age
Fleas are very common in North Queensland and cause major issues for pets and their owners. A good flea regime is essential to try to control these. There are many products out there to control fleas, if you wish to purchase a particular brand and size please let me know to ensure I have the right one for you
Nutrition is an important part of your pets health especially as they age through life. Just like us if they suffer from carrying too much weight they are prone to more diseases such as diabetes, that is why it is important to manage their weight through good nutrition. Nutrition also plays a big part in diseases such as kidney failure, gastrointestinal diseases and even some skin conditions. There are many products available and if you require a specific one please let me know so I can get it in for you
If your pet requires x-rays, surgery or hospitalisation this will need to be done at a local veterinary hospital. You can either make the arrangements yourself or I can assist you with them.
Payment is required at the time of consultation and I do have credit card (VISA and Mastercard) facilities
